I had a wonderful evening last night seeing a fantastic show with my buddies Maria Moncada, Carly Ozard, Carly’s mom Nancy, Terese Genecco and Carly’ s friend Greg. (stay tuned for a more thorough review and pictures later). It was a great way to end my Wednesday… or so I thought…
When I got to my apartment and tried to open my door last night, I noticed that my bottom dead bolt lock for some odd reason was opened. I knew that I had locked both locks in the morning but I figured it may have been a slip somehow so I put it out of my mind. However, this morning as I was leaving the apartment for work and trying to lock my door, I discovered that my bottom lock was broken!!! Someone had tampered and plugged a screw/drill bit into my deadbolt lock during the night and I cannot lock my door!!!!!
I immediately called my land lady who told me that there had never been a problem in that apartment, to call the maintenance office. I called the maintenance office and was told that there was no one available to come fix it. I went to the building security who asked to go with me to see for himself after I showed him the picture. When he saw the lock, he confirmed that it was indeed an attempted break-in to my apartment!! At that moment, with the security guard next to me, I called the maintenance office back again and was told that no one could be there to change the cylinder to my lock until tomorrow and even if they do, it would cost me money.
I confess, at that moment I couldn’t help it, I raised my voice at him. I said, “Someone tried to BREAK IN!!!! HELLO???!! DOES THAT NOT RING A BELL!”. In response he said to me that I can ALWAYS get a lock smith myself but I will have to pay for it out of my pocket! At that point, the security guards told me that they will try to keep an eye on who is going in the elevator to the floor during the day. BUT its no consolation to me! ANYONE could be going to my floor. How could anyone tell who, in the elevator, is the culprit?!?!?
Well, since there was nothing else I could think of doing, in my frustration I went into the office to speak to my boss about this. I have a pile of work waiting to get done and I had to get in there ASAP. When I got into work, I told my boss the story and showed him the picture. Bless his soul, he told me to pack up and go home to take care of this. He told me to call the police and make sure I am not alone when I go home which I will do as soon as I get there. That is the plan. I am on the bus, homeward bound. I will update later. Wow! What a crazy start to my day!!!
