Good evening everyone!
Here I am, sitting at the VIP lounge at JFK waiting for my midnight flight. The next stop for me (after 15 hours will be Taiwan! Finally, I will be reunited with my sisters again.
I wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday!
The month of November actually feel slightly unreal to me.
Beginning with Sandy, the storm of the century that resulted with such devastation; my postponed opening night is minor compared to the pain of those who lost their homes and all the memories associated with the space.
On a lighter note, I can’t believe that I’ve gone through two runs of my show already! What an amazing experience it was! I realized finally, the force that’s driving the cabaret world. It’s the passion and love of music and its expression in the purest form, the artists’ true self. What a powerful connection that is! There is nothing like the experience when your audience connects to you during the show and relates to you! So addictive!
Now it’s time for me to say my thank you’s!
I thank my directors Lennie Watts and Steven Ray Watkins:
Lennie for being the mentor, friend, confidante and so much more that he has been to me through all this time. Thank you Lennie, for listening to me and being there for me at my weak moments and helping me create the possibility… that is me.
I thank Steven for being the wonderfully talented musical director that he is. Over the course of months of working with him on my show, I’ve come to see him as a dear friend and love him for who he is! Thank you for all your encouragements and patience with me Steven!
I thank my dear friend Chris for being my confidante and one of my best friends, always there for me through the best and worst of times!
Now another reason I wanted to thank Lennie and Steven is the summer arrangement bootcamp. The bootcamp had resulted with so many wonderful friendships for me. (How could we not develop a bond after being locked up in a room together for 4 days lol) Carly, Melissa, Maria, Jim, Lynne, Richard, Wendy, Karen, Jamie, Phyllis, Mary, Sallie Jo and so many more of you! How wonderful it is to have such talented artists to call my friends!
I also wanted to thank the Salon for becoming my second home every Sunday night to meet up with my musical friends. Tanya and Mark, being so wonderfully supportive. I met my adopted mommy Bobbie Horowitz there 🙂
Finally, after a weekend where I was blown away by the talented artists and writers at the MAC “They Write The Songs” event, followed by Reverand Yolanda’s Gospel hour and then the Salon.
I have so many more people (dear friends and family and people who came to support me at my show), my job… that I would like to thank but its almost boarding time so I better wrap this up for now.
I want to conclude this post by saying that I am feeling truly grateful for the gift of life and all of you!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
With Love,
Natasha
