Happy Friday Everyone!
The weekend is only a few hours away! I think that the thought in itself should be conducive to a state of Happiness 🙂
Here I am back for Part III of my “How to Achieve a State of Happiness”. I am not sure how many parts there will be but I think it is always nice to find new ways of achieving it. What do you think?
Blogging has been very good for me I’ve discovered. It’s one thing to have the thoughts in my mind but it is something else to sit down, write it down and share it with the world! As I walked home last night from the bus, I found myself pondering on what I want to write next. I put the idea out there, went home, took a nice shower, played some guitar and it suddenly came to me what I want to write about today…
To achieve a state of Happiness, a very important thing to have is an open mind set and to be “present”. You have to be open to growth and changes. I’ve come to realize recently that just because I’ve always done something one way doesn’t make it the right way or the only way. We humans are creatures of habit. We like staying in our comfort zone and doing things in a certain way that we’ve always done. Why? Well, it is the easy thing to do, a no-brainer (pun intended).
Having a mindset that is adverse to changes is in my point of view like a death sentence to our personal evolutionary process. We have all seen the movie “Ground Hog Day”. Can you imagine living in that day forever doing the SAME THING everyday? I certainly cant!! Professionally, I am always looking for ways to get better, to grow and I value constructive feedback ALWAYS. It keeps me sharp and on top of my game. In my personal life, however, for the longest time, in certain areas, I had stuck to certain ways of handling things because it was the way I’ve always done it and it came “naturally”. I am not going to go into details because that is irrelevant to the point I am trying to get across.
Well… the result of blindly repeating the same thing over and over again is that it made me oblivious to important information around me at the very moment. Doing things out of habit, staying in your comfort zone and not being open to changes takes away from the experience of being “present’ at the moment you are at and “living” in the best way you can with the very limited amount of time we have on this planet. Doing so also creates a lot of stress which you may not be aware of in your life. When I became aware of what I had been doing and switch my mindset, it was like a cloud had been lifted from my head and the sunshine peeking through. I tried doing something that I’ve always been doing in a certain way and suddenly, it became all new and it was an amazing experience! The rainbow came out! It was like I suddenly saw the open path leading to the ocean beyond the forest I was in.
I found myself enveloped in a feeling of euphoria and peace! You don’t have to take my word for it. Try it for yourself! I bet you will come back and thank me later!
