It’s been a while since I’ve taken the time to write. The latest Facebook “viral post” from the app which takes your whole year and summarize it with a collage of pictures inspired me to take my lunch hour to write!
I have been quite the busy bee! Since my last post, I’ve traveled all the way across the ocean to the other side of the world, came back, performed in two shows, videoed multiple shows, got booked in more shows and started working on my next full show…. all of THAT on top of my very demanding full time job at the Fed! Guess what? I LOVE every moment of the non stop busy schedule which I spiced up with spending time with loved ones and my hobbies!
As I looked back at my year, I am quite grateful for so much! I am grateful for everything throughout the year, both good moments and the occasional bad moments because they added so much color to my life…
People often asked me how I am able to keep a smile on my face even as I go through tough times. The answer to that is I have come to the realization long ago that everyone goes through rough times at some point or another in their lives. The question is HOW each person chooses to deal with it. Some people mope around, some throw tantrums, some detach themselves from the world, some hide themselves away like a hermit, some get angry, some get sad, others get bitter with life and make everyone around them miserable along with them. Well, I deal with it a little differently. When I go through challenging times, I wear a smile… even if I don’t feel like smiling, I go through the motions of carrying that smile. There is something magical about a smile I’ve come to realize through the years. When you are wearing a smile, people around brighten up significantly in response and that energy feeds back and lifts me up. There is always a choice, I can choose to allow myself to wallow in a negative way or I can SMILE.
It gets easier with practice! If it is too hard at first, I recommend kick starting that smile by doing something that makes you happy! Give yourself a pampering session! Buy something new! My list of things that make me happy grows EVERY DAY~ I have a bunch of “make myself happy” activities such as painting, meditating and sending positive energy to the universe, cooking for people I care about, sharing my thoughts with friends, shopping, writing listening to music and more often then not, SINGING!
I would search for a song that expresses exactly how I feel at the moment, sing the song throwing all of my negative emotions into that song and let it OUT! It was SOOOOOOO gratifying! If you had never tried it, I highly recommend finding that ONE hobby that you can release all your emotions. When you do find that one hobby, go for it and finish it off with a smile!
The most important advice I have is that you need too learn to LET GO of negative energy!
YOU WILL NEVER BE TRULY HAPPY IF YOU HOLD ON TO THINGS THAT MAKE YOU SAD!!
Now I have talked the talk, the key is walking the walk~ As some of you may know, December is a rough moment for me… it brings back memories of losing my mom. I have noticed that during this month, I feel an dark emptiness deep inside… the craving for that unconditional love. Funny how after 15 years, it still affects me. Well, at this very moment, I am making a CHOICE. I am going do something for myself that makes me happy and SMILE. I will fill up the emptiness with smiles…
I am going try my best to let go and embrace HAPPINESS~ Join me! 🙂
