Good morning all my friends!
It has been a while since I’ve had the time sit down and write. Life had been a whirlwind of activities for me! I like being busy but it’s good to have a moment to catch my breathe and think…
The opening night of the second run of my show was a HUGE success! I believe it was meant to be, the day started with pouring rain but the sunshine came out in the afternoon just for me! The weather “gods” must‘ve known that “Rainy Days and Mondays ALWAYS get me down”! 😉 I had so much fun at my show! I didn’t want it to end!! It was pure joy for me to share the stories and music of the Carpenters, who have been my inspiration all my life. No other music touched me the way the Carpenters have.
I’ve verbalized my thanks at the end of my show but I cant say it enough.. I felt the need to elaborate…
Sidney Meyer have been amazing in the way he supported me from my newbie days in cabaret in 2012 when I took my baby step into cabaret world doing by Lennie Watts and Steven Ray Watkins‘ “Get Your Act Together” class. He was there to see me and my partner Erika Smith perform on multiple nights and when I moved on later that year to debut my first cabaret show, “Anything But Ordinary” at the Duplex, he took the time in his busy schedule to see me!
Jason Ellis is quite the master of the art of lights and sound. Funny that we went to NYU during the same period of time, never knew each other back then and met in the world of cabaret years later. His excellent artistry made me look and sound better than ever!
I was completely blown away by the energy and support of the audience on Thursday night! The energy, connection and enthusiastic feedback by everyone meant everything to me! Bobbie Horowitz, Peggy Eason, Kim Grogg Marin, Roger Anthony Yolanda Mapes, Billie Roe, Dawn Derow, Kathleen France, Andrea Wolff, Gary Crawford, Sunny Leigh, Ariel, Sallie J Hadley, John Koprowski, Karen Mack, Jim Vern, Jaye Maynard, all my friends and so many people that I don’t even know… THANK YOU! (I think I should compile a list of all the feedback I’ve received from you all during this show and save it for those rainy days when I am blue as a “pick me up”!!!) 🙂
I am most grateful for Lennie Watts, my director and Steven Ray Watkins, my music director. The stars were definitely shining down on me the day I started working with them. So rare in life have I found people who have so much heart and dedication to people they work with and desire to see them improve and succeed and support them all the way. They genuinely cared! Over the years, they have become my extended family. The two of them, over and over again helped me make my dreams come true. I couldn’t thank them enough. I am blessed.
I could hardly believe that just a matter of 2-3 years ago I was what I would consider the nadir of my life. It’s a miracle!
