Good afternoon everyone!
It’s been such a cold and nasty winter this year but I gotta say, I am feeling plenty warm inside! Music lights that fire in my heart that warms up even the coldest of days and nights! As I take a slight break I realized that I am less than 3 weeks away from the opening night of my show! How exciting is that? I cant believe it!
This Sunday that just passed, I was the Spotlight at the Salon. I did a three song set with my amazingly wonderful musical director Steven Ray Watkins, one of which is a song that from my show (The other two songs were ones that I loved but never made it to my show). The intro by Mark Janas brought tears to my eyes. He talked about how he remembered the first time I stepped into the Salon two years ago and how he witnessed my growth into the cabaret singer I am today. I felt the love from him and Tanya! I love them! What a wonderful experience! Although it was somewhat of a quiet night, the enthusiasm of the crowd filled my heart! People LOVED my songs! I left feeling blessed!
As much as “Anything But Ordinary” my debut show meant the world to me, my tribute show brought me to a whole different level. Most of you may not be aware of this but I was listening to the Carpenters since before I was born! While pregnant with me, my mom would listen to Karen sing all the time. I think it had a lot to do with why I loved them so much! Since I was a child I’ve loved the Carpenters. To celebrate my birthday singing songs that I adore by my favorite artists and telling their story, is nothing less than complete self indulgence. One would think that this means I am all excitement and nothing else. BUT it is not true! The pressure comes from the fact that I love the Carpenters. I must give this show justice.. Many of you have been supportive of me in this endeavor and all I have to say to that is NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES! I plan to give my all and I hope you can join me in this journey!
